I have fond memories of Uncle Sam. Some of the first are getting an extra scoop of ice cream from him at Arthur's Dairy. He was always pleasant and easy going. I remember visiting him when he lived by the railroad tracks. I believe that was when he gave the nickname of "Elmo". Not sure where it came from, but he continued to call me that over the years. In recent years I enjoyed talking to him about growing up on the farm and stories about friends and family. I will miss him.
